Minka is the daughter of poor fisherfolk. Wishing for a better life, she sells Grunge, a highly addictive drug that is sweeping through the human realms. After being implicated in a murder, Minka is forced to abandon her country, livelyhood, and family to avoid persecution.

Ralo is half human and half kelick, a magical race who cultivate Grunge. He tires of being a desitute farmhand, so when Minka appears in his life, he helps her revolutionize the drug trade.

Kaino Devorjak, the Mad Prince of Critono, seeks absolute power over all. While satisfying his cannabalistic urges, Kaino sets out on a bloody rampage.
