Hollin is a thirteen year old part human, part tree-spirit, and like all boys his age, he wants to be powerful. When his enlightened tree-spirit grandfather, Blueberry, encourages Hollin to pursue his own tree-spirit side, adventures and new relationships begin. Aided by his witty and fierce griffin, Maple, Hollin learns Spiritspeak, earth-based healing, and the art of drawing mental focus and physical strength from nature's forces. Ultimately, Hollin is called on to use these powers to fight Maitradulor, earth's enemy, Through battle, relationships, and self-doubt, Hollin comes to realize truths about himself, the earth, and the nature of real power.
