How Carnforth Grew

Nestling at the north-east end of Lancashire's Morecambe Bay, is the ancient town of Carnforth, "Chreneford" in the Doomsday Book. Inhabited since Roman times, Carnforth grew from a small village into a 19th century railway town, the junction of three major lines. In this first book, local historian, Marion Russell, takes us through the town's life from its birth to the opening of the 20th Century.
