HOW DOES IT FEEL? A Life of Musical Misadventures is the strange-but-true memoir of film critic Mark Kermode's other life in music. It tells the story of how a spotty kid from North London who built an electric guitar at school wound up recording an album at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis. It follows Mark's haphazard musical career, from inauspicious beginnings in 1970s church halls and youth clubs to performing live at the Albert Hall, via a mercifully short-lived stint in musical theatre and stand-up comedy. En route, we witness him stride around chaotic kids' TV shows dressed head-to-foot in black leather, get heckled off stage by a bunch of bingo-playing septuagenarians on a boat on the Mersey, show Timmy Mallet how to build a tea-chest bass, and successfully teach an American festival audience to say 'bollocks'.
