How Much More?

Jesus has a way of using rhetorical questions to get at the heart of what His listeners believe about Him and His Father.

One night, while Golfran A. Rivera held his newborn son, contemplating all the blessings he longed to bestow upon him, Christ's question about the Father's generosity suddenly pierced deeper than it ever had before: "If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!"

Many who have called on Christ as their Lord and Savior can articulate fundamental Christian doctrines about forgiveness of sins through His willful sacrifice and powerful resurrection. They acknowledge the Gospel is true, and that Jesus is the only way to the Father. But few ever understand or walk in the joy and freedom that is found in the love of the Father.

Rivera shares how fatherhood contextualized Jesus' question and helped him experience the love of God in a new way. By answering the question, "How much more?" he shows us how the difference between understanding Christian doctrine and experiencing the truth of the Gospel is found in discovering the depths of the Father's love.
