Firstly it points out the uses and peculiarities in the dispositions of the different varieties of dogs, secondly, their respective properties; thirdly, to give an approximate idea of the size of puppies at various periods in their life; and lastly, to select from a litter those puppies which are likely to mature into the best specimens.
