As a parent you will have taught your child many things up to this point: walk, talk, use the toilet, brush their teeth, use a knife and fork, ride a bike, etc. Teaching your child to read is just another activity and you do not have to be a teacher to do it well.
Based around the phonics method taught in most primary schools, this book guides you through teaching your child the sounds of the words of the English language. Follow the working order through the different stages to develop and progress their reading skills with fun activities and games.
Jean Allott taught History, English and Maths in secondary schools across Sheffield as well as becoming Chair of Governors at a local primary school before opening her own tutoring centre in 1998.
Jean was a wife, mum of two, teacher and business woman. She was a voracious reader, with a passion for learning and sharing her knowledge. This book was written during her retirement and is her legacy.
