The Pops Place restaurant has been a resounding attraction in Charlotte, NC for the last sixty years-withstanding the many transformations the small southern city has undergone to grow into a contending metropolis. Just as the city has grown, so must the restaurant, and so must the family who owns it.

Empress Silver is a young woman who has recently moved back to her hometown of Charlotte, NC to support her father and brother as they expand their family business. Her return reminds her of all she ran from and forces her to reckon with all she has ever wanted. She, and the rest of the Silver family, is tried with the complicated balance of being good and being human while growing into her new existence.
