Immunology and Pathogenicity of Persistent Virus Infections

This volume compiles research in the area of persistent virus infections. A group of virologists explore the mechanisms by which various viruses, including HIV-1, hantavirus, hepatitis, lentivirus, and measles, persist within the human host. As such, this volume considers persistence within the cell, persistence within the individual human being, and persistence within the human population. Genetic changes associated with virus persistence are reviewed and intervention strategies are discussed.
