The low power spectrum density of UWB signals restricts the transmission range to only few or tens of meters. One possible means to overcome this limitation is to use an optical link to distribute UWB signals over long distances.In this work, the transmission performance of UWB over optical link is investigated. The work consists of two main parts. The first part focuses on the transmission performance of UWB signals over existing fiber links and addresses the possibility of increasing the coverage area beyond 30 km. Then, the transmission performance of UWB over dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) network designed with 50GHz channel spacing is examined. In addition, the possibility of integrating UWB wireless services into implemented coherent optical orthogonal frequency division network is addressed. In the second part, the effect of rotation angles of the polarization controllers used in the UWB photonic generation system is investigated. Results are presented for both Gaussian monocycle and 5th-order derivative Gaussian systems, each operating with 625 Mb/s formats. Simulation are carried out using OptiSystem version (13.0)
