In His Own Words" focuses on the life of 8th grader Steven Owens, who is adopted by a Christian family. He deals with typical adolescent issues and a speech impediment, which causes him to be a target for bullying at school. The book takes the reader through Steven's journey as he connects with a re"bellious foster care teen who becomes his best friend. Throughout the book the reader will encounter themes such as; bullying, issues relating to adoptive and foster families, peer pressure and youth violence.
