December 1992: Teenage Ira Dixit and Omar Siddiqui's blithe world is ripped apart in the Mumbai riots raging over the Ayodhya temple-mosque dispute.

December 2017: Dr Ira Godse and her son Sameer are on a flight from London to Mumbai with an urn of ashes. Sameer absconds, swearing revenge and to trace the familial connection to Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse. Ira's frenetic search for her son unearths polarised worlds jostling for survival and wars waged in the name of colour, demi-gods, statues, minarets, cows, and pigs...culminating in a journey to the Auschwitz Birkenau Memorial in Poland.
