in the stillness of time

STILLNESS is a rare find these days, but what could be more vital than growing still, hearing that He is God and that one day all will be well, even as our call is to remain faithful all the days of our lives. To grow still may sound simple, but anyone who has tried and found themselves feeling more restless, disturbed and upset than before, knows this is a spiritual discipline to be honed like any other discipline, with commitment, resolve, hope and second attempts, until it becomes second nature, a practice we could not live without and wouldn't want to try anyway.

Stillness is one of those great spiritual goods that cannot be bought, but must be caught. Often this is through reading good books, especially the Bible, but also through books that give us pause, such as poetry.

A poem can deepen our thoughts and cause us to grow still. Which can lead us to pick up our Bible and deepen our reading. The longer we know God, the longer we might be spending dwelling on his Holy Word. My hope is that this is where a good book of poems can take us, to Thee Good Book.
