Infrared Optical Fibres

Nonsilica-based infrared optical fibres are now at the centre of interest in optical fibre research. These fibres are potentially applicable to a variety of infrared optics fields such as infrared imaging, spectroscopy, temperature remote sensing, laser energy delivery for surgery and materials processing. The aim of this book is to provide readers with a systematic description of infrared optical fibres. Widespread applications such as infrared sensing and telecommunications are discussed, along with the basic theory of light guiding and transmission loss mechanism. There are also descriptions of a variety of infrared optical fibres such as glassy and crystalline fibres and hollow waveguides.
