Intona

Hi, this is the author, John. Thanks for checking out my debut novel, Intona. (Skip to the bottom for the synopsis). If you're looking for something fresh, new, and exciting to read, then I think you might enjoy my book! Intona took me over two years to create. I intended this work to be like if Borges, Gaddis, Kafka, and Pynchon all had a baby and raised it on tour with the Rolling Stones. Intona is one part psychological study of the artistic process in the digital age, one part philosophical examination of cutting-edge AI, and all parts fable. There's drama, humor, fictional erudition of imaginary lost civilizations, and allegorical stories of love and loss. I'm a film school grad, and while I decided I no longer wanted to make films, my plan in life was always to write novels. I've focused all of my creative energy on bringing this work to life, and I pack a lot in this little book. I use my filmmaking experience to inform my work with characters and narrative, and I use my day job as a software programmer as a foundation for my treatment of the subject of AI. If you're looking for something new and engaging to read that might even surprise you, I'd be honored if you took a chance on my work. Intona is the name of the prestigious and world-renowned art institute eponymously named after the exorbitantly wealthy Intona family. The institute serves as a fictional representation of modern Western 21st-century society, a backdrop to the story weaving its way through the lives of the characters. Traversing time as vast as Pre-Revolutionary France to late classical antiquity, follow an ensemble cast as they grapple with themes of artistic identity, the question of fate and destiny, the power of love, the difficulties of relationships, the consequences of technology, the meaning of family lineage, and the existence of the supernatural. Along the way, experience unforgettable encounters with characters such as a walking pig in a suit, the Intona family, the eccentric genius architect Jonas Monfleur, a human android nanny, the ruthlessly ambitious technocrat Caroline Sing, and many more. Enter Intona's atmospheric world of grand ideas, filled with characters whose lives, by the end of the story, will have forever changed.
