This textbook is designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to irrigation for students in agriculture and agricultural engineering. The book covers the essential principles and concepts of farm irrigation, from basic knowledge of soil, mathematics, hydrology, and hydraulics to the latest techniques in irrigation system design and management. As the construction of major and medium-sized irrigation projects can be costly and have negative environmental impacts, the book focuses on low-cost and easily constructed farm irrigation structures. The primary objective of this book is to design an optimum-sized small-scale water harvesting structure, which is typically a farm pond used by farmers.
