Island Woman

This story is set on the beautiful island of Jamaica in the year 1660. The indigenous people now share their homeland with adventurers from Europe, and African slaves from the plantations. They have retreated further and further inland, to the upland areas, as the incomers have taken over the fertile coastal regions. They are anxious to know what is happening in the wider world, and how it may affect them and their future as a free people.A teenage girl is picked for the role of spy. She ventures out alone to mingle with the new arrivals and report back to her people all she can learn about them. Tailored for dyslexic readers but can be read by anyone.
