Janie's Prayer: and Our Lady's Message

An only child in a Catholic family during the 1980's, eleven-year-old Janie is overjoyed at the birth of her new sister, Lily. When grief strikes, Janie sets out on a mission to restore her family. Events in the news, a Gospel passage and Our Lady of Fatima each play a role in helping Janie. After becoming the target of the class bully, Janie sets out on a new mission; befriend the bully. Janie confides in her best friends and in her diary, which she considers to be letters to God, and shares them with the reader throughout the story.In part two, Janie's whole world is turned upside-down. Physical and emotional changes occur just in time for Janie to begin eighth-grade.
