However, her plans are scuppered when she falls pregnant by her fiancs father. When the baby dies, she descends into a deep depression that ends in tragedy. Sigrid Undset (1882-1949) was a Norwegian novelist most famous for her trilogy "Kristin Lavransdatter". She won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1928.
