She was married to her husband for almost 23 yrs, who unfortunately succumbed to his battle with cancer. Being the natural caregiver that she is, Ruthie went to school to become a nurse after her husband passed, and is now fulfilling another dream of writing children's books to bring joy and entertainment to children of all ages. When Ruthie is not working, she loves to spend time with her friends and family, especially her children and her grandson, and she very much enjoys being out in nature. She loves to hike in the mountains, primarily on trails that lead to beautiful, skyscraping waterfalls, and she has set a new goal of hiking to the highest elevation in each of the 50 states. Ruthie is very excited about sharing adventurous stories through her books, and she aspires to touch others in many generations to come.Meet the Illustrator:Jo Smoak is an author and illustrator of a variety of genres of books. She has a passion for design, for storytelling, and a love of the unexpected, which is evident in her work. Jo is also an avid traveler and enjoys exploring new places and cultures. This fascination with the world and its hidden corners is often reflected in her writing. When not writing, Jo can be found hiking, cycling, being with her dogs, or exploring the world with her camera in hand.
