John and William Bartram

John and William Bartram were father-and-son travelers, America's first native botanists, and master gardeners. John transplanted wild plants into his botanical garden (one of the first in America) and then sold them to interested people in Europe, starting a trans-Atlantic correspondence that would add tremendously to the scientific thinking of his time. John's son William absorbed his father's love of nature but found his own individual path through life.
