Joyas Voladoras * Flying Jewels

Las Joyas Voladoras son los "Visita flores" o colibres, y desempean un papel esencial de la mayor importancia, porque slo ellos pueden polinizar muchos de los rboles y arbustos que forman parte de la naturaleza. Sin embargo, ltimamente los nmeros de estas pequeas aves se han disminuido porque hemos invadido y destruido sus hbitats, pero este libro explica lo que podemos hacer para proteger y conservar este tesoro nacional. En Panam, se han observado 59 especies de colibres. Algunos de ellos son migratorios, pero an as juegan un papel significante durante su permanencia en el pas. Este libro es el trabajo del ingeniero Ralph Dessau y representa el resultado de su estudio de 8 aos de los colibres de Panam, con 49 fotografas en color y una lista de los colibres que se encuentran en Panam con sus nombres en ingls, espaol y con su clasificacin cientfica. The Flying Jewels are the "Flower Visitors" or hummingbirds, that play an essential role in nature of greatest importance, for only they can pollinate many of its trees and shrubs. But lately the number of these small birds has dwindled because we have invaded and destroyed their habitats, but this book explains what we can do to protect and preserve this national treasure. In Panama, 59 species of hummingbirds have been observed; some of these are migratory, but still they play a significant role while in the country. This book is the work of the engineer Ralph Dessau and represents the result of his 8-year study of Panama's hummingbirds, with 49 color photographs and a list of the hummingbirds found in Panama which gives their names in English, Spanish and their scientific classification.
