Just 4 U London - Pirate Radio in a Geographic Perspective focuses on the influence of pirate radio; specifically the recent generations of London-based pirate radio stations such as Rinse, Kool, Kiss and Flex. Pirate radio, it is argued, provides an influential talent incubator and socialising space for various urban communities, while at the same time serves as a vehicle through which they can make themselves be heard. The research explores the context of urban and cultural geography, utilising the recent strain of 'music geographies' and selected works of Henri Lefebvre and Michel de Certeau, as well as contemporary works inspired by Lefebvre and de Certeau. Putting pirate radio into a geographic perspective involves analysing how the urban space is tactically and temporarily appropriated, embodied and produced. With a phenomenological perspective, the book provides a snapshot of the mental, social and physical relationships between pirate radio and the production of urban space. Just 4 U London includes interviews with Benga, Crazy D, Heny.G, Mala, Martin Clark (aka Blackdown), Mary Anne Hobbs, the Ragga Twins, Riko, Skream, Steve Goodman (aka Kode9), Uncle Dugs, and more.
