Kashmir Powder Keg

The upsurge of anti-Indian feeling in the Indian state of Kashmir that began in late 1989 has once again brought the Kashmir problem into the international spotlight. Recent increased tensions between India and Pakistan have hindered any attempts so far at a sustained peace process. US concern for stability in South Asia has increased considerably as a result of nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities acquired by the two countries since May 1998. This book presents the historical aspect of the conflict, describes US concerns in the region, and describes the recent developments.
