In 2004, Heidi & Mike adopt two children from a mysterious country few Americans have ever seen. Along the way, they eat horse, get parasites, and survive scoldings and survelliance. Always on a need-to-know basis-yet, apparently, never needing to know-they careen from one bewildering day to the next.
