Founded in 1870 through the merging of the Canterbury and Maidstone clubs, the Kent team have enjoyed success in the County Championship as well as various cup competitions. Kent's greatest era began in 1967 (when they won both the County Championship and the Benson & Hedges Cup), during which time the team were one of the most prominent forces in the domestic game. Kent is also renowned for the Canterbury Cricket Festival Week, one of the foremost events in the cricketing calendar. This selection of over 220 images includes fascinating photographs and memorabilia that illustrate the team's history from its beginning in the nineteenth century up to 1999. Particular attention has been given to some of the county's many great characters, including A.P.F. Chapman, Colin Cowdrey, Derek Underwood and Carl Hooper, and the grounds on which they played. With a foreword by Lord Cowdrey of Tonbridge CBE, this book will appeal to all fans of Kent County Cricket Club: old followers can relive memories while younger supporters will gain an insight into the game's absorbing history.
