The worlds of Jen Kowalski, a U.S. Navy veteran suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Rick Knight, a former U.S Army soldier, collide when they meet while serving as police officers in San Antonio, Texas. They quickly form a bond as she battles her demons, and he faces murder charges for the death of two victims.

"This is a tale about veterans who endure the highs and lows that come with military service, time as police officers, and the risks inherent in human relationships," said Charleston, who retired from the Air Force after 20 years and now works as a Transition Assistance Program counselor. "My book explores personal choices, dealing with wartime trauma, and the concept of fate."
