Laughter in a Dark Wood

A Jewish comic novel, driven by a humour which is both black and bittersweet. A road movie of the mind, it follows Bernard Steinway--an alienated, isolated Jewish intellectual--as he attempts to find a sense of purpose following the collapse of his marriage. His search is both desperate and deluded moving from one self-inflicted disaster to another. In the end he believes himself cured and finally leaves his therapist--he may be convinced that he has regained his sanity but the rest of us know better.
