In the year 1812 a twelve year old Ashanti heir to the Ashanti Kingdom was kidnapped off of his land located on the west coast of Africa. He was ushered through the legendary, "Gates Of No Return," and proceeded on the sixteen week journey to America to live the duration of his life out in servitude as an American Slave. This young man of royalty was sold to a wealthy slave owner in Richmond, Virginia. The young would be king made himself a promise that regardless of his circumstances he would one day return to his motherland, reclaim his throne and rule as king of the Ashanti Empire. This story documents the tribulations and tragedies that he endured along the way. He subsequently married a young Mulatto girl who was born into slavery, and she bore him several children some born by the orders of his master. But tragedy after tragedy prevented any of his children from making it out of slavery. All of them were either killed or sold off of the plantation. This young king was eventually able to purchase his and his wife's freedom, and they began on a trek that lasted for years to find their children and reunite their family. However, the tragic truth that they discovered in the process of searching for their lost children could potentially destroy their lives and the lives of their loved ones for eternity. So, the young king and his wife had to make some fast and extremely difficult decisions in choosing to die with a tragic secret or, take the risk of disclosing their tragic truth and watch it tear their family apart. It took a lot of courage to do what they decided to do.
