As a child, Roland Baines's parents sent him to boarding school. There, far from family protection, he took piano lessons with a young teacher named Miriam Cornell, with whom he had a fascinating and traumatic experience that would mark his life forever. The years, however, have passed: Roland has traveled, has lived in different places, has married and has had a son. But when his wife, Alissa Eberhardt, leaves him without explanation, the foundations of his reality are shaken, and he is forced to piece together all his memories to try to understand what happened.
