Letters from China: The Canton-Boston Correspondence of Robert Bennet Forbes, 1838-1840

The correspondence of Robert Bennet Forbes (1813-1889), and his son, J. Murray Forbes (1843-1936), carefully preserved but long forgotten, was rediscovered in the attic of the Forbes House atop Milton Hill outside Boston, prior to its opening as a house museum in 1964. Other family members thereafter generously donated additional papersnotably those of Francis Blackwell Forbes (1839-1908).
