Warren Akin (18111877) was a prominent attorney from Cartersville, Georgia, who served as the states representative in the lower house of the Second Confederate Congress. This collection was originally published in 1959. The majority of these fifty letters were written while Akin was a member of the Confederate Congress. The letters cover legislative procedures; personnel of the Congress; political and civilian life in Richmond; and reactions of the Akin family to the crisis of war, invasion, loss of home, separation, and personal tragedies.
