Have you ever wanted something really badly, then got it and wished you had something else?

Amber Anderson is pony mad and regularly rides an imaginary pony to victory over homemade jumps in her back garden. Eventually she gets her wish of starting riding lessons and this gets even better when her parents buy Pearl - her favourite pony from the riding school - for her. She is over the moon and can't believe her luck...until she meets Joanne and her fiery pony, Flash.

Seeing all the trophies and rosettes that Joanne has won, Amber joins the Pony Club and tries to get Pearl to do jumping and pony club activities, but she soon discovers that it isn't Pearl's scene. It seems that Amber's dream of owning her own pony isn't what she hoped it would be.

And when she takes Pearl to her first ever show, Amber hears show jumping star, Elisha Templeton, making unkind comments about her and Pearl. Humiliated, Amber wishes she had a sleek, elegant show jumper instead of small, hairy, stubborn Pearl.

But although Pearl isn't going to be a show jumping star, can she prove to Amber that she is a special pony in a different way and remind Amber about the qualities that made her love her in the first place?
