Since childhood, Samita was drawn to literature, thanks to her maternal grandfather Prabodh Kumar Sanyal, who was a noted Bengali litterateur. She was always fascinated and influenced by the bravery of her paternal grandfather, Dr. Birendranath Bhattcharyya, who was a true freedom fighter.
