Lord of the Ravens

For nearly four centuries, the land had lain under the control of the Protectors -- or so it had always been taught to those who dwelt within the Underworkings, a massive underground city centered around a mining facility. But there were always stories about the long ago that persisted, and the hopes -- or suspicions -- that there might yet be a world above. In this subterranean society lives Joan, ID Number 411-517-C, a miner who, along with the others, lives a simple enough life in the Underworkings with those around her. But circumstances change when Gasper the Story-teller begins telling tales, ancient, outlawed tales of the long ago, centered around an ancient king called the Lord of the Ravens; and a mysterious stranger approaches her to make an irresistible offer to see the truth of the matter about the Protectors, the Underworkings, and all that Joan once thought she knew. The journey of a lifetime before her, Joan decides to accept the offer, and ends up on an adventure that both shatters and rebuilds her entire world. . .
