Mabel is a mother of four sons and lives in a small town in the Deep South in 1958 - but Mabel isn't your typical mother and housewife. Each week Mabel goes to Lorene's Salon for her beauty treatment, and each week Mabel gives Lorene her thoughts on being a wife and mother, social unrest, cooking, Elvis Presley, fat kids, the recent murder that has the town on edge, women's issues, pop culture, and whatever other topics come to mind for Mabel. Mabel's takes on the world are filled with humor, insights, compassion, disbelief, and a pinch of snarkiness.
