Seville, 1587. In a city full of bustle and splendor, where the gold of America flows and danger lurks in every corner, two mysterious figures arrive from distant lands. They are English, and their objective is clear: to obtain information about the Spanish defenses and create links with possible local allies to facilitate an attack against the empire. In the midst of this tense atmosphere, Fernando de Medina, a humanist and shrewd investigator, and Francisco Pacheco, royal chaplain and man of letters, are charged with investigating these foreigners and unraveling their true intentions. The English do not act alone. A vast network of conspirators extends from the alleys of Seville to the very court of Philip II, endangering the security of the nation. With the threat of the Invincible Armada on the horizon, Medina and Pacheco must infiltrate clandestine meetings, decipher encrypted messages and confront unexpected betrayals. As they delve deeper into the investigation, they discover that they face not only foreigners, but also powerful enemies within their own city.
