Born in Russia in 1861, Lou Andreas-Salomé is remembered for her friendships with the great thinkers of her day. As well as being a poet, author, narrator and essayist, Salomé was the first female psychoanalyst, and muse to Friedrich Nietzsche, Paul Rée, Rainer Maria Rilke, and Sigmund Freud.

In 2022, Italian author and journalist Stefano Santachiara approached Fall in Green, Deborah Edgeley and Mark Sheeky, to create a performance adaptation of his biographical play Loving Lou Salomé. The result was Lou Salomé Empathy With Daisies, a performance of poetry and music, augmented with props and video projection. The premiere took place in the presence of the author in Congleton Library, Cheshire, on the 3rd of August 2022. The album version was recorded shortly after and released digitally and on CD on the 2nd of December 2022.
