Emily Mason-Wohl's boring life explodes the moment she lays eyes on Alessio Giles LaValle. She co-owns the "little" daily newspaper in Waters Edge, Florida, with her husband, Jason. Alessio is a vacationing music critic for a Boston newspaper. They meet at a concert. Set in 1978, Emily dabbles in fiction writing. Her main character, Brenda, lives in Chetco, California, in 1865, when money flowed, and strangers with a past sometimes decided to stay. Things did not end well for Brenda, who was murdered before she could run away to Paris with her one true love, Emil Chauvelier, a French-Italian musician, who was travelling across America researching native music. Music again brings them together. Emily knows deeply that she is Brenda and Alessio is Emil. All the characters have reassembled. They have reincarnated together, but so have the evil forces that destroyed them in Chetco. How does love triumph this time?
