Die Festschrift enthält ein Vorwort der Reihenherausgeber, ein Geleitwort, ein Schriftenverzeichnis des Jubilars, 47 Aufsätze und ein Verzeichnis der Autorinnen und Autoren. Die Beiträge gliedern sich in Abschnitte zu "Fokussierten Perspektiven: Sehen und Wissen, Wissen und Sehen" mit den Unterabschnitten "Bilder und ein 'geschärfter' Blick" [14 Beiträge] und "Imaginierte Welten" [8], "Globalhistorische Perspektiven: Phänomene der Mobilität" [12] sowie "Wissensperspektiven" mit den Unterabschnitten "Zeit und Raum - Chronologie, Mensch, Umwelt" [7] und "Forschungsgeschichte" [6].
