Born in 1960 in Sallanches, Marc Desgrandchamps, a major painter in the French art scene, explores the notions of opacity, transparency, and superimposition. His figurative work is far from realistic representation and allows the strange to emerge, on the borders of surrealism: distorted perspective, undefined space, frag mented bodies, ghostly objects... Evanescence, fragmentation, infinity are words that come back to evoke his work. Recognizable by a certain number of recurring themes the bathers, the blue skies his painting is also revealed by his coulures, which the painter voluntarily leaves spread on the canvas. Drawing his references from many worlds (art history, photography, cinema, literature, music, but also personal photos) the artist explores the limits of figuration, offering a vision both panoramic and synthetic of modern art.
