Mary, The Clairvoyant

Mary Sherborn, who inherits the gift of clairvoyance from her Celtic ancestors, is born in the wrong place at the wrong time. Watertown in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in the 17th century is founded by Anglian Puritans who rule from Boston with an iron fist. Even though Mary is devoted to the Puritan faith, a respectable wife and mother, she knows the magistrates have hanged an innocent midwife and others for witchcraft. She dares not admit her extrasensory visions to anyone, even to herself. Marrying both wealth and power, she struggles to maintain the respect of her community while concealing her second sight. Her challenge is to learn she can no longer hide her non-conforming ways: she must embrace this gift with its dubious benefits and find an acceptable way to live her life fully. What can that be when King Philip, the Wampanoag chief, attacks English settlements and her husband is called to fight? When the townspeople call the Indians Devils and the healers Witches, who remains to protect her? 

Mary, The Clairvoyant is the second historical novel of The Watertown Chronicles, a fictional saga based on one of America's earliest immigrant families.
