This novel deals with one of the most controversial periods in the history of Mexico. The bloody fratricidal struggle between liberals and conservatives, which continues to this day, confronts two characters whose origins are diametrically opposed: one, belonging to the Habsburgs, one of the most powerful families in Europe; the other, a Zapotec Indian, of indigenous race and iron will. Maximilian and Juárez are the protagonists of the confrontation of Two Worlds. This novel narrates in a truthful, dramatic, entertaining and anecdotal way, the tragedy of Maximilian and Carlota, in their attempt to build - under the protection of the French army - a Mexican empire, until he is shot, his corpse mummified and later transported to Europe, while she sinks into the unfathomable mud of paranoid madness and sadomasochism. The failed empire and the republican triumph are two historical events that cement the Mexico of our days.
