Meanings of the Names of People and Places in the Old Testament

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

This book contains not only a look at the meanings of people and places of the Old Testament but also a brief look at who the people were in that they really did live. In most cases showing they had family, and were a son or a daughter, a brother or sister, the father or mother of a person. The book also tells where the places were and even in the meanings of their names, there is great significance. For every person and place written in the Bible, there is a specific reason, whether for the meaning of the name of a person as in the name Adam (man, red earth) or in the name of a place, as in Bethel (house of God).
