Medicine and the Same

• Medicine premiered at the Galway International Arts Festival as part of the 2021 Edinburgh International Festival, prior to performances in Galway (Sept. 2021) and New York (TBD). It was directed by Enda Walsh, with a cast including Clare Barrett, Aoife Duffin and Domhnall Gleeson, with drummer Seán Carpio. • Medicine will receive its U.S. premiere at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn in November 2021. • The Same premiered in Cork in 2017, and won The Irish Times Irish Theatre Award for Best Play.• Enda Walsh also wrote the book for the acclaimed Broadway musical Once, for which he won an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Book; the musical also won the Lucille Lortel Award, New York Drama Critics' Circle Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama League Award, Drama Desk Award, Laurence Olivier Award, and Tony Award for Best Musical in 2013. It also won the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. • Walsh collaborated with David Bowie on the musical Lazarus (New York Theatre Workshop, 2015, and West End, 2016). • His other plays include Arlington, an adaptation of Roald Dahl's The Twits, Ballyturk, Misterman, and The Walworth Farce, among others.• Walsh won the 2010 Obie Award for playwriting for The New Electric Ballroom.• Walsh won the 2006 Abbey Theatre Writer in Association Award.• His popular plays The Walworth Farce (2006) and The New Electric Ballroom (2004) continue to be performed in major regional theatres across the country each year.
