The hard message. The message that got God's servants killed in less civil times. Confronting the ruling power, with the Word of God, was oftentimes a death sentence. Delivering the message of God resulted in personal attacks on the prophet's credibility, the goal being to shut him up, or at best to get him to 'change' the message. Just as the Television Evangelists were shut down in the 90's, the Lord Jesus Christ has set appointments with each pastor, each church leader standing in as the head of the church. In their own home, where they lay down, this appointment will be kept.
To the broken and contrite? They can be refined as gold in fire, and will be cleansed, sanctified for the master's use. The others? Their cries for sympathy, solace and comfort will be ignored. From Cain, Balaam, and Eli, we will see their contemporaries in the church today addressed. The prophet the people loved? Do we recall him? He was the false prophet, the one that stated all is well while the juggernaut of destruction was closing in on the self-pleasing, self-serving people who had an alternative to faith in the Living God.
This message is directed at self-called man ordained church leaders, as John the Baptist stated, it is a warning to flee the wrath to come. Judgement has begun at the house, of God.
A look at Ezekiel, and Jeremiah, reveals God's attitude to sin, with the destroyers told to, "... and begin at my sanctuary". Direct, cutting, the author was told, "Take some latitude with your attitude", and he did. The words are direct, but before the Living God they are tempered. This is the first of three books in this series.
