Meredith: The Family I Once Had follows the exploits and struggles of Meredith, a girl living at the foothills of northwestern North Carolina under the shadow of the Great Depression. As social unrest and economic failures spread around her, she easily gets worried about her future. With a stroke of luck, however, she gets acquainted with new people years later and finds her way climbing up society's long ladder, even penetrating the rich class. Despite moving away from poverty, Meredith feels somewhat empty deep inside as she remembers her family and the sufferings they all went through. She still has a strong faith in God and strong determination to hang on to. What does the future have left for Meredith?
