Methylotrophy and Methanogenesis

This work describes the biochemistry and physiology of bacteria that produce methane (important in agriculture, sewage disposal, and as sources of gas for combustion) and those that grow on methane and related compounds (important as the source of a highly nutritious animal feed-stuff obtained by the growth of bacteria on methanol produced chemically from natural gas). The book brings out the overall biological, ecological and technological importance of two important groups of microorganisms, while an insight into the metabolism of these organisms at the cellular and molecular levels. References are included, and because the book covers several scientific disciplines a glossary defines terms that may be unfamiliar to some readers.
