Mighty in Word and Deed

This is a 2-volume study of the Synoptic tradition of the Gospels against the background of the recent discussion about orality, narrativity and form criticism. It brings together textual criticism of Q and the early oral tradition about Jesus with literary analysis, taking narrative as a fundamental vehicle of social memory. This first volume sets out the problem and task, along an approach and methods of textual study.
