Mississippi Scenes

This volume collects a series of sketches that originally appeared in newspapers in the mid-1800s. Cobb's writing is lively and entertaining, and provides a snapshot of life in the American South and West during the period. The Legend of Black Creek, a humorous tall tale, is a particular highlight.
